Online Scout Manager (OSM)

So that our Leaders can spend as much time delivering Scouting, we use an online system called OSM to help with the admin side of scouting. This manages everything from attendance, to badge records as well as personal details.

To make sure we have up to date details for your children, we ask that you log into OSM occassionally and update personal and contact details for both yourself and young people.

There are a number of help videos for OSM, but if you are still having problems, speak to one of your Section Leaders and they will be able to help.

Get Involved

Our group is made up entirely of volunteers, no one is paid and that’s what makes Scouting great. The support of passionate, enthusiastic adults helping to shape the next generation, all while developing their own skills.

There are lots of ways to get involved, from occassional support as part of a parent rota all the way up to being a permanent Leader. Our volunteering roles are as varied as the people who take them on.

We provide full training for your role, as well as a supportive group of Leaders and friends to help you throughout your time with the group. You provide the enthusiasm.

Not sure if volunteering is for you? Why not try helping for a couple of weeks and make a decision later. You’ll never know unless you try.

Find out more and get in touch by visiting our volunteering page.

Uniform and Badges

Our uniforms are designed to be comfy and practical, as well as showing that we all belong to the same group. Each section has a top half uniform (shirt/blouse or sweatshirt) which is combined with a group scarf. Our scarf is yellow with an orange trim.

For section specific information about uniform as well as a list of suppliers, use the buttons below.

Badges showcase our young people’s achievements, sewn onto our uniforms for everone to see. From animal carer to writer, each badge has a set of criteria that our young people complete over a number of sessions or camps.

For section specific information about badges and where to sew them, use the buttons below.

Cost of Scouting

Over the year we charge a fee (called Subs) to cover a number of things for both the group and their section. These include: Insurance, Capitation (fees paid to the district and county), Equipment, Maintenance, Items for Meetings, admin and digital tools. Alongside this, we sometimes have extra charges for special activities, camps and events.

We try to keep costs as low as possible so that everyone can be involved but if you are having problems, have a look at our financial support section.

Each section has their own way of collecting fees, which are detailed below. Please note that all Subs are non-refundable:

In Squirrels, Subs are charged at £12 per month, due on the 5th of each month.

We prefer to collect fees by bank transfer but can take cash if necessary.

To make sure we know who has paid, please mark all payments with a suitable reference including your childs first name and last initial.

In Beavers, Subs are charged at £12 per month, due on the 5th of each month.

We prefer to collect fees by bank transfer but can take cash if necessary.

To make sure we know who has paid, please mark all payments with a suitable reference including your childs first name and last initial.

We provide every young person and adult with their first group scarf as well as a set of badges to go on their uniform, for no cost to you as a parent. As well as this, throughout your time with our group, we will provide every badge free of charge.

The only things we don’t supply are uniforms, these come at a cost of around £20 for the shirt/sweatshirt. For more information about uniforms, look at the uniform section above.

If you something is lost or needs replacing, such as a scarf, woggle, or badge, we can provide a replacement but will ask for a donation to cover the cost as we have to buy them from Scout shops. A price list can be found below:
